  • Yes, the Village of West Salem does enforce alternate side parking from November 1st – April 1st on all streets. Specifically the ordinance states:

    6.05(D) Night Parking Alternate Sides of Street. Between 1:00a.m. – 6:00 a.m. vehicles shall be parked only on even numbered sides of streets on those nights with an even calendar date, and on odd numbered sides of streets on those nights with an odd calendar date from November 1 – April 1.

    Also, note that cul de sacs are restricted as noted in ordinance “6.05(E) Night Parking cul de sacs.” Between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00a.m. no vehicles shall be parked within the circular turn-around portion of any cul de sac from November 1 to April 1.

    Violation of either ordinance may result in an $15 parking ticket.

  • Unfortunately, due to rising costs from the service provider, we are no longer able to provide any vehicle registration nor vehicle renewal services at our department.

  • Please stop by our department during office hours with your bicycle so we can obtain all the pertinent information for the registration form.  There is a $1 fee for each bicycle license issued.  

  • Yes, but only if the citation is addressed to the “Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court.” Any citation that is addressed to the “La Crosse County Circuit Court” is not available to be paid online or the phone. If you look at your citation, the court information should be located near the top left of your citation. If you would like to pay your citation via the phone, using your credit/debit card, please call 888-604-7888. This service is available 24 hours a day.

    *Important* Whether you pay via phone or online, you must use code “2305” when asked. This number helps route your payment to the Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court (Onalaska Court). If you do not use this code when asked, the court will not have any record that you paid your fine. This could result in a default guilty judgment against you due to your lack of appearance and/or lack of payment and increased penalties.

    Fees: Government Services charges a fee to utilize their service.
    Phone Fee is: 4.75% of citation fine.
    Online Fee is: 3.5% of citation fine.

  • There are several ways you can pay your parking ticket.

    1. You can stop at the police department between the hours of 7:45am – 12pm and
      1pm – 4:45pm, Monday – Friday.
    2. You can mail your payment to our department.
    3. You can call our department between the hours listed above and use your credit / debit card. A 3% fee applies to your total ticket amount and will be added to your total when paid in person, when paid over the phone the fee is 4.5%.
